Two adjacent buildings in Greater Noida collapsed on Tuesday. As per reports, NDRF recovered 9 dead bodies and 20 to 25 people are feared trapped in the debris. The incident happened around 10 pm on Tuesday night in Shahberi village of Bisrakh in Greater Noida. After the incident, UP police arrested 3 people including builder Ganga Prasad Dwivedi.

Talking about the incident, a senior police officer said, “It is feared that 20-25 people might be trapped inside the debris of the two building. We are not sure about the casualty as rescue operations are underway.”

As per the local residents, 18 families and labourers were living in both the buildings. The rescue teams have recovered 3 male dead bodies, say reports. Taking cognizance in the matter, UP CM Yogi Adityanath directed state officials to ensure help in the relief operation.

An eyewitness, who lives nearby to the incident spot, said that around 10 pm last night, when he was having dinner, he heard a loud sound, first he thought that it was an earthquake but when he went out of his house, he saw that an under construction building has collapsed.

District magistrate of Greater Noida BN Singh said that NDRF and the police along with the health and fire department are trying to rescue to the trapped people. He also added that a high-level inquiry will be conducted to find the reason behind the incident.
